Performance

The performance of a computer can depend on many things. The main factors are:

  • Clock speed
  • Type of processor
  • Number of cores
  • Amount of cache memory
  • Amount of RAM

The effects of these different factors can be quite complex, and depend on the type of software being executed. Normally it is better to benchmark a system, that is to measure its performance running various different types of software, rather than try to work out how fast it will be.
